Damage to the KPI Sports Complex

Following another overnight attack on Kyiv, the campus of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute suffered additional damage, including the university Sports Complex.

Built in 1983, the Sports Complex includes two swimming pools, weightlifting and aerobics halls, boxing and wrestling facilities, gymnastics spaces and sports courts used daily by students and university teams.

The blast wave shattered thousands of square meters of glass, damaged communications infrastructure and affected parts of the sports equipment and interior spaces.

The recovery effort is focused on restoring safe training conditions, repairing essential infrastructure and preserving student access to physical education and rehabilitation activities.
